Personally, I think it’d be a different story if the Third Reich and Confederate memorabilia were small enclaves of those cultures among a much broader collection. If he said, “Here’s my Confederate collection. In the next room, I have a bunch of Union stuff,” or, “Here’s my Nazi flag, and if you look at that wall, you’ll see the British Empire’s flag,” then. Is there something with Nazis and milk? I remember the dude from Inglourious Basterds drinking milk, but didn’t know that was a thing? I had a dream where I turned into a bottle of milk to escape from Nazis. Yes, you are exactly right, I was definitely not thinking clearly,

I have, unfortunately, been in situations like these with opiate addicts (full disclosure: I am a recovering opiate addict myself) and the switch from sweet and high to infuriated and raging violent can happen in the blink of an eye, and sometimes for absolutely no reason. You did the right thing. I’m so, so glad you made it out okay. Lordy. I was hoping that you were just overanalyzing things and then… Drugs. I know a couple people who collect German wartime memorabilia, but they actually go out and dig for the stuff. This guy seemed to be over the top. But either way yes, not the best call, and I’ve definitely learned from it.
